March 2 - Blind Dreams and Prayers

Home all day with Harriet, catching up with this and that, including pdf for Merton Songs 24, and finishing composition of Psalm 88 (8 pages total) and continuing The Decameron (page 33).  Run into a weird situation with the latter re Finale, discovering that the "Lyrics Window" (why not simply "Text"?) keeps an independent (and less than useless) cache of the words.  Inconvenient (to say the least) in two regards:

1) Words from older compositions somehow survive and occasionally are willfully substituted by the "omniscent" program, over-riding new text that has just been typed in -- very weird! (standard compositional practice here is to always begin a new piece utilizing an older one -- will definitely have to delete all old text in the "LW" before begining anew)....

2) Since words are woodenly conceived by the program as being part of "Verses" and "Choruses", etc., collections saved in the "LW" make no sense when a repeated passage includes a "call and response" of one singer alternating with another.  The Window groups all of one singer's words together, and then all of the other vocalist -- result is textural gibberish within LW, but so far, has not impacted scores...  Additionally re-edits of words seem to be capriciously placed within aforesaid window.

Still a bit under the weather, after all this time, so hopes of heading out in the evening to Other Minds (featuring Harold Budd and Gloria Coates) are thwarted...
