February 15 - Threepenny Finales
Back to Cafe Royale with Kurt Weill's The Threepenny Opera in the evening, but, to get there, first to
Diablo Valley College for Dictation / Board Harmony on the beginning of Guillaume de Machaut's Notre Dame Mass: Kyrie.
Return home via
errands
to do the day's standard musical endeavors (pdf Merton Songs 9, composition 10th measure Psalm 86 and 19th page Decameron),
then out again with Harriet,
stopping in Oakland to pick up Allan Crossman's music, and on to
San Francisco for the show at
Cafe Royale with
John Bilotta, Allison Lovejoy,
Sibel Demirmen, Zoltan DiBartolo,
Harriet March Page, and Michelle Jasso --
in
scenes
and
songs
including
Love Song,
"You're a terrible person, Mac"
Melodrama,
Pirate Jenny,
Tango Ballad,
"You, brute!",
"Where's my husband?",
and
Jealousy Duet. A decidedly different experience than last month, now that we are off book (in not only the songs but dialogue), and a variety of new strengths are in evidence before a receptive crowd.
