May 19 - Celebrating 5's and 0's and All
Eight-way birthday celebration at Celia's for George's 85th, Bette's 80th, Mark's 55th, Ann's 50th, and Crystal's 25th -- with Harriet, Lori, and Christina in the mix.
A full day,
beginning with a leap over the Sulfur Springs Mountains,
past Sears Point
Ranch, and across the
Petaluma
Plain,
towards Tamalpais
and
the
Embassy
Suites,
the
dignitaries gathering --
including Stanley --
for an
initial
jaunt in the Crestwood
Open
Space,
which
proves
to
be
a
photo op as much as anything else.
After errands and dropping the dawg off at
Crystal's,
we proceed
to Belli
Deli,
then down to the Headlands for
nostalgic views from Kirby
Cove
Overlook,
Hill
129,
the one-way
descent of
Conzelman
Road,
Center for the Arts
View,
Bonita Peninsula (lamentably the track towards Bird Rock appears closed to vehicular traffic... permanently!),
the
Institute
itself
(with
vistas,
installations,
and
preparations
on this
brilliant day
for
an
al
fresco
wedding
in
progress),
Ann's old residence with its command of the
Green
to the
blue,
the
hairpin
turn
near
Gerbode
Valley,
Rodeo Lagoon and
Beach
(lingering
at
the
surf
and
bluff
above
in
bracing
winds),
up
Bunker
and
McCollough Roads to
Alexander
Avenue,
down
Bridgeway
through
Sausalito,
with
a
quick
check-in to see Christina
at
the
Marin
City
Public Library,
and
back
north
to
prepare
for the
evening.
Nip out
briefly to
commandeer a cake,
returning
in
time
to
head
eventually
back
south towards our Mexican spot,
where Harriet
joins the party.
A wonderful
festivity,
continuing
back
at
the
hotel
with
more
merriment
and
dessert over sundry surprises,
including Crystal's video of her skydiving experience.
Home late to produce pdf of Crystal Series (page 3) and edit The Decameron (108) and Psalm 96 (system 10).
