June 24 - Ever Up

Everyone's got to have a goal, and one of the one's for today was to gain some elevation out of the Lake Tahoe Basin on 431, part of the series of walks from the California coast to the Nevada border, and now beyond.  Where will it end?  Evidently probably farther than

Birdie Road, the end-up point on the walk for today.

The day begins with more composition, orchestration, and pdf'ing, including Psalm 99 (page 2) with The Decameron - Second Day (19) and Double Piano Concerto ("Fellow Travellers") (24), Violin Concerto ("Ticklish") (61) and pdf of San Timoteo Can[yon]tata (5) -- before heading across the Sacramento Valley,

upslope to

Auburn,

past Bear River Valley,

over Yuba Gap and

Pass,

alongside

Castle

Peak,

descending

Donner Grade into

Truckee,

then

up

and

down 257

into the Tahoe Basin.

Beyond Brockway and

Crystal Bay,

the way begins at the 28 / 431 junction,

with an ascent in view of the

Lake,

churches,

housing,

ridges, and

various

roadworks,

to the aforementioned

golfclubby intersection.

Back in the car,

cannot resist a drive further north to the haripin and

Ridge viewpoints,

then further afield to

Tahoe

Meadows

and

Mt. Rose

Summit

(i.e. Pass),

taking in the

surplus

signage and the

tempting trailhead to the actual Peak, which we hope to accomplish sometime later in the season.  Following this, the long journey back via 395 north and 80 west.
