April 27 - At a Basal Level

Begin the orchestration of Concerto for Bass ("Comrade"), Op. 126 (2004), as the internet goes out on us again.  Call, and are given a byzantine process to restore at least ethenet (which, after three tries, does work on both MacBooks) and a 12-hour wait-around period for a housecall to restore wireless (8am to 8pm) -- so, cancel other appointments (not totally depressed that the dental commitment cannot be honored... and they are quite understanding at Melissa's office), enabling Harriet to go out on her scheduled rounds.  45 minutes before the window closes, call, and after a second round of computerized voice-recognition hell, talk to someone live, who assures that we haven't been forgotten.  One hour and 15 minutes later, nothing.  A third phone call, somehow bypassing most of the phone-routing purgatory by continually pressing "0", and an ultimatim: be at our place by high noon tomorrow, or we look elsewhere for service.  Will such a cavalier attitude work (we are pretty piqued, admittedly, although try to reassure the helpful representative that we know the situation is certainy not her personal fault)?  We shall see...

Also do the pdf for Merton Songs, page 78, and compose The Decameron, 87 (well into VIII. "Guglielmo Borsiere, by a neat retort, sharply censures avarice in Messer Ermino de' Grimaldi"), and system 2 of Psalm 94 (an organ piece, based on Julius Ruebke's evidently famous -- at least among organists -- setting) -- with the weather clearing up nicely -- high officially 73, although only registering 69 on the front porch...
