Diagnosis from Dave is a reasonable fix, but with a 3-5 day turn-around. So, proceeding on the notions that once problems start, there are bound to be more + cannot really deal with said number of days without a computer, proceed ahead with buying a new one.
All express lines aside, wait at the laptop table and determine, with Sharon, that a 13-inch MacBook Pro is the economical-yet-practical way to go -- after which,
she helpfully assists in the initial set up.
