December 11 - All Will Be Revealed, Maybe

On the early side,

with tule fog dispersing in

Lagoon Valley,

rallying in

Fairfield,

clearing

in

Cordelia,

re-hanging along

the 680 /

Sulfur Springs Mountains

corridor, and

fleeing

finally

(at least for the nonce)

near

Diablo

Valley

College --

it is time for the Fall 2012 Music Theory Exam

(25

eventually

in

attendance), with examples drawn from Kurt Cobain's Heart-Shaped Box, Elton John's Lion King, Mark Alburger's Antigone, Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings, and Thom Yorke's Morning Bell... and Final Dictation inspired by Darius Milhaud's La Creation du Monde.

After about an hour of after-hour post-two-hour-exam lingering,

return

through

gathering

clouds

to begin pdf of Spectral Preludes: IX. and compose another page each of Double Piano Concerto: III (13) and The Decameron - Third Day: VII (15).  Harriet arrives for early dinner and a video,

then off to pick up Carol for the

DVC

Sing-Along [G.F. Handel] Messiah at

St. Andrews Presbyterian Church,

given by the Philharmonic Orchestra and Master Chorale.

With impressive soloists including,

David Chavez (former theory student and singer at Halfway Mark, and sounding even better than ever),

the reading is a success under the capable direction of Owen Lee,

Dick Kamprath,

Bret Peppo, and Mark Alburger... alumni director brought in by request at this late hour by the kind invitation of the current conductors for Worthy Is the Lamb / Blessing and Honor / Amen.

Coffee and dessert afterwards at BJ's, then an eventful commute via the dark contours and huge hills, standing up tall, of California 4 and I-80, dropping off Carol and heading home to

Harriet, for more amazing times, including a late night outing and climactic video drama.
