July 1 - Looking to the Heights

More orchestration and pdf work respectively re Violin Concerto ("Ticklish") (page 67) and San Timoteo Can[yon]tata (11) before heading out with Harriet, Tisha, and Claire to

Lake Tahoe -- via

Sacramento,

Auburn,

Gold

Run,

Blue Canyon,

Emigrant

and

Yuba Gap /

Pass,

and Castle Ridge,

lingering

at

the

Pacific

Crest

Trail's crossing of Donner Summit,

before

plunging down

the Grade,

veering south along the cliffy Truckee River.

After dropping off zee ladies at Commons Beach,

head

further east

over Dollar Ridge,

past Tahoe Vista,

King's Beach, and

Brockway,

over the

Nevada border,

downslope along

Crystal Bay,

at last making the connection in the outskirts of Incline Village with Route 431.

From here,

upslope briefly in the car to last week's endpoint of

Birdie Way,

then

walk

gradually

up

from

7000

to

7400

feet

at

Fairview

Boulevard,

with panoramic views of

Rose Ridge and the

Lake.

Take in the even larger panorama at Hairpin

View

before

 retracing

steps --

Herclitian

moments

all...

King's Beach,

Tahoe

Vista,

Carnelian Bay,

picking up the posse (an adventure in and of itself) back in Tahoe City.

The way home is accomplished... welcomely, for a change... in daylight,

so there are more sights to see along the Truckee,

up and over Donner,

marvelling at lingering snowfields,

careening down to Emigrant Gap and the

Foothills,

ultimately

returning for more composition re Psalm 99 and The Decameron - Second Day.
